MSMEs yet to receive adequate assistance from govt: KASSIA

Kalaburag, Nov 22 (KNN) The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) President R Raju has said despite Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) being  the major contributors to the State’s exchequer through taxes and generating numerous jobs but it yet to receive adequate assistance from the government.

Addressing a media conference here on Thursday, R Raju, said, ''Despite creating numerous jobs and contribution to country's GDP, MSMEs are not receiving adequate assistance from the government. We urge the Union government to take a cue from Karnataka State Finance Corporation and offer credit at 4 per cent interest through the nationalised banks.”

Further, while commenting on the most debated topic GST, Raju said the introduction of GST had upset the tax-filing and the rigidity in the GST system has added more to the problems of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

However, Amarnath C Patil, president of Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HKCCI) too criticized the governments and claimed that government is not serious, especially, towards the backward Kalyana Karnataka region.

“The government had sanctioned National Investment and Manufacturing Zone and over 12,500 acres of lands were identified in Chittapur taluk for the purpose but later it was given a cold shoulder. If the project is implemented, it would generate over 2.6 lakh jobs and boost the economic development of the region. But, no government is serious about it,” he said.

Later, he demanded the Union government to extend special financial aid to Kalyana Karnataka region that enjoys Special Status under Article 371(J) of the Constitution.
