Multi crore parks in J&K to promote industry, generate employment

Jammu, Feb 17 (KNN)  Jammu and Kashmir will soon have multi crore food and textiles parks that will promote industry and at the same time generate employment.

A mega food park has been approved to be set up in the Industrial Growth Centre (ICG) Lassipora Pulwama at a cost of Rs 78 crore where 30 units with an investment of Rs 46 crore will be set up providing employment to 1200 persons, said a report.

The project was announced during a meeting between state industry Minister Sajad Ahmed Kichloo asked his departmental heads yesterday, it said.

A textile park will also be set up in Ghatti industrial estate at a cost of Rs 47 crore where 30 units shall be established with an investment of Rs 250 crore providing employment to about 3000 persons. Another textile park has already been set up at Govindpur Kathua.

In addition, a modern wool and wool design development centre at a cost of Rs 2.10 crore is being established at Nowshah in Srinagar to promote wool industry in the state. The centre will facilitate scoring, dying, spinning and weaving of fine quality tweeds, shawls and blankets.
