Mysuru MSMEs seek separate tariff, periodic maintenance of transformers & power lines from CESC

Mysuru, July 18 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Mysuru have sought a separate tariff for themselves along with regularizing temporary power connections in abandoned layouts during a meeting with the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC).

An interactive session was held between CESC officials and consumer interaction in Mysuru. CESC Managing Director H.N. Gopalakrishna along with more than 300 consumers attended the session. The top-level management of CESC were also present in the meeting.

After hearing the concerns raised by the industrialists, CESC said the preventive maintenance of transmission lines, transformers and other installations in the industrial areas here will be carried out on a Sunday instead of a weekday (Thursday).

CESC also said that the preventive maintenance, which was being carried out to avoid breakdown of supply to major consumers, will be not be carried out during the month-end as the industries are mostly busy in productions to meet the monthly targets and any disruption in supply would result in a loss for them.

One of the other key issue raised by MSMEs was that many transformers in the industrial areas were more than 30-40 years old and sought multiple meters for multi-storeyed or vertical industries.

Checking voltage fluctuations, inadequate transmission line in Hebbal industrial areas like in other industrial zones, demand for laying underground cables for the transmission of electricity in the industrial areas of Mysuru were other issues discussed during the meeting.

Suresh Kumar Jain from Mysore Industries Association suggested a separate tariff for MSMEs as done in other States. (KNN Bureau)
