Negative, arrogant attitude of tax officials shouldn't be allowed to hamper industrial growth: J&K industries

Jammu, June 30 (KNN) Jammu and Kashmir industries have requested the state government to create an industry friendly atmosphere around Lakhanpur check post, where the trucks loaded with goods are detained without any valid reasons by the tax department.
 
The Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) has requested the state Finance Minister, Haseeb Darbu and Industries Minister Chander Parkash to issue necessary instructions to the concerned officials of Commercial Tax Department to create an industrial friendly atmosphere at Lakhanpur check post to regain the confidence of the industrial fraternity.
 
A meeting was held on Monday under the Chairmanship of Rajesh Jain in which the members of FOIJ showed their strong resentment towards the working of Commercial Tax Department, Lakhanpur resulting in unnecessary harassment to the industrial units by detaining trucks loaded with industrial goods without any valid reasons.
 
They discussed about the “arrogant behaviour of the ETO’s which creates an uncertainty and fear in the mind of the industrial fraternity of the state” who have invested crores of rupees and providing employment to lakhs of people of the state, FOIJ said in a statement.
 
Later the federation thanked Industries Minister for taking up matter with the Finance Minister for their intervention into the matter to facilitate timely release of the goods with a strong message to the Commercial Tax Department that such type of action cannot be tolerated in future, the statement added.

They demanded that the officials responsible for harassing the industrial units should be taken to task so that the negative and arrogant attitude of the officers responsible should not be allowed to hamper the industrial growth.
 
The meeting was attended by Co-chairman FOI, Lalit Mahajan, Vijay Aggarwal, Romesh Badyal, Jatinder Aul, SB Abrol, Convener, Varun Singla and Viraaj Malhotra along with the other office bearers of the all industrial associations. (KNN/ST)
