NGT directs closure and registration of cases against 124 industrial units in West UP

The green panel had directed inspection of 316 industries that were allegedly polluting the rivers.

A Bench headed by NGT chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel on Monday directed the District Magistrates of six districts to come up with an action plan for providing potable water to the villagers.

The tribunal has also directed the State government to seal handpumps that are discharging contaminated water and formulate health benefit schemes for residents who are suffering from ailments caused after using the polluted water.

A NGO named Doaba Paryavaran Samiti had file a plea that due to consumption of polluted water, children were also facing serious health hazards.
