Noida, Apr 24 (KNN) To their utter shock, entrepreneurs in Noida have been slapped with arrear notices running into lakhs of rupees by the authorities which said that the dues are being collected for the last 20-25 years, as there were miscalculation at the time of land allotment.

In the last three months, more than 50 units in Noida have got such letters from the authorities, President of Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA), Vipin Malhan told KNN.

According to Malhan, the Noida authority and electricity departments are sending notices claiming that their past bills were not based on proper calculation and the units would need to pay the outstanding for 20-25 years with interest.

“The Noida Authorities have been sending letter to the units regarding irregularity while issuing no due certificate to them at the time of buying the land decades ago,” NEA President said.

“When somebody buys a land or property from someone, they get the no due certificate from the authority. Now, after 20-25 years, how can the authority say that there was a miscalculation and they we need to pay dues now within 10-15 days failing which we might face closure,” he added.

NEA has sought the chief minister of UP, Akhilesh Yadav’s intervention in the matter and has asked for strict action against the officer responsible for this, the association President said.

“When an industrial property owner has already taken a no due certificate from the Noida Authority, Electricity Department and all other concerned departments, then how can they claim the dues, with interests, after decades,” Secretary General of NEA, V K Seth said.

“The Electricity Department has been sending such letters to the units after 2-3 decades, in which the owners have changed several times,” Seth added.

On the response from the state government, the Association said that due to elections,  no action was taking place.  “However the CM office has assured to look into the matter soon,” it said.

“We have to fight for our rights and will keep approaching the state government to look into the matter as soon as possible,” Seth added.  (KNN/SD)
