Chandigarh, Apr 26 (KNN) Industrial units in the state will face closure/legal notices in case they do not apply "positively" by May-15  to the Haryana Pollution Control Board for consent to operate, the board has warned today.

Considering that several units in the state of Haryana have not applied for renewal of ‘Consent to Operate’ (CTO) in line with the Acts concerning water and air and rules regarding hazardous waste, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board is offering a final opportunity to units to apply for consent.

The move comes in response to requests from various industry associations in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Yamuna Nagar and Bahadurgarh for opportunity to apply for consent to operate after the due date had lapsed.  They had cited lack of awareness and technical problems in uploading application through OCMS on their website.

The last date for applying for CTO has now been extended from March-31 to May-15, provided that applicants submit the analysis report within one month (June-15).

Regional officers (RO) will be responsible for collecting the sample by June-15, an official notice from the pollution board said.

In the meantime, the ROs will issue notices to all applicant units and also hold meetings with concerned associations to ensure that no unit in the area is left without applying for CTO.  Wide publicity will be given through local newspapers in this regard.

Units failing to apply for the same may be recommended for closure or legal action, the notice said.  (KNN/ES)
