Odisha govt seeks organizations to provide youth with job-oriented training

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18 (KNN)  As a part of the Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM), the Panchayati Raj department of the Odisha government seeks organizations to implement a placement-linked skill development project and provide training to poor youth.

The organization will also provide capacity building, and monitoring of placement linked skill training to provide technical support to the project implementing agencies (PIAs) under Aajeevika Skill Development Programme (ASDP) here.

By doing so, the organization will help bridge the skill gap to fulfil the employment criteria needed in the state by training as many as 50 lakh youth in the formal sector by 2017.

The placement linked skill development training project has been implemented under the NRLM scheme of Odisha Livelihood Mission to train and provide employment for the rural BPL youth across Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Puri, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Baragarh, Jajpur and Bhubaneswar.

OLM is a society registered under the administrative control of the Department of Panchayati Raj. OLM has a mandate to implement ASDP.

Aajeevika National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), mission launched under by the Ministry of Rural Development, is a submission under NRLM.

Through the project, the government plans to develop the socio-economic status of the poor, especially women and disadvantaged groups, in ten districts of Orissa over a period of five years, beginning 10 February 2009.

The project is assisted by the International Development Agency of the World Bank and implemented by Orissa Poverty Reduction Mission, a society under the Panchayati Raj Department of government of Orissa. (KNN/SD)
