Fly ash, lime calcined gypsum and sand, with requisite quantity of water is mixed in proper proportions which produces slow setting cement, the resultant mass can be pressed in to bricks of any desired strength. These bricks can be used in building constructional activities instead of common burnt clay bricks.
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will provide land and develop the basic infrastructure facility for the fly ash park wherein the fly ash from NTPC and other corporate houses would be stored.
The proposed common facility centre will pursue collection, testing, classification of various raw materials and effluents such as fly ash and sand.
The state government will also encourage new start-ups in the sector thereby contributing towards employment generation.
The present generation or fly ash in India by thermal power stations is more than 100 million tonnes per annum. One kilogram of coal of fired yields fly ash ranging from 200 to 500 grams. At present only 6 per cent of fly ash is being utilized. (KNN/ST)
