Punjab government invites entities for establishment of University in IT City, Sas Nagar

New Delhi, Aug 6 (KNN) Committed to foster setting up of high level academic institutions for promoting higher education in the state, Punjab government has invited entities for establishment of the University in IT City, Sas Nagar, Punjab.

For this, government of Punjab has earmarked 40.44 acres site at an allotment price of Rs 2.90 crore per acre.

An 8 member committee has been set up under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to scrutinize the applications received on the basis of technical evaluation criteria.

The scrutiny committee will examine the applications keeping in view the parameters like viability of projects, employment to be generated, qualification and experience, financial position and experience of the staff and faculty.

As per the policy for allotment of sites to Universities in areas under the jurisdiction of PUDA and Special Development Authorities in the state of Punjab, the applicants must belong to sponsoring organization of an existing UGC recognized University in India, which has been in operation for at least three years or  Sponsoring Organization for setting up of a Greenfield University, wherein at least one promoter/founder has a track record of setting up or running an existing UGC recognized University in India, which has been in operation for at least three years.

The Applicant registered as a not-for-profit society, or a public trust, or a company constituted under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 or any other legal form subject to it being compliant to the laws of Union and State for setting up a University can also apply.

The allotment is subject to the provisions of Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act, 1995 read with rules, regulations and policies framed there under and as amended from time to time.
