Punjab govt installs Centralized Inspection System for industries in state

Chandigarh, May 30 (KNN) In a bid to facilitate trade and business activities in Punjab, the State Government has put in place a Centralized Inspection System (CIS) under which the Labour Department, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) would inspect the industrial units in a coordinated manner.

Industries & Commerce Minister, Punjab, Sunder Sham Arora said that the State Government has notified the CIS under which the Labour Department, Punjab Pollution Control Board and Boiler would inspect the industrial units in a coordinated manner.

The minister also said that the Labour Department and the PPCB would conduct the inspection in a single day, the information of which would be conveyed to the concerned unit in advance.

The process involves inspections by Labour Department and the PPCB in a single day and dissemination of information to the concerned units in advance.

In addition, inspection report has to be uploaded on the online portal mandatorily within 48 hours.

Besides this, Arora mentioned that nspection would be limited to the check list displayed on the online portal. It would also be mandatory to obtain approval in advance from the concerned departmental head for conducting surprise check.

A portal www.pbinspections.gov.in has been set up by the CIS and the Labour Department has been made the Nodal Agency for the effective implementation of the CIS. The process of implementation has been started throughout the state.

The minister also added that in order to facilitate and bolster the ease of doing business in Punjab, the State Government is already according approval to the industrialists through a hassle free single window system whereas now a new beginning has been made in the form of CIS.

He also urged the industrial institutions and business houses to send in their feedback/suggestions so as to make the CIS more effective.
