Punjab industries demand action against PSPCL officials

Ludhiana, Jul 12 (KNN) As the Punjab government has extended the power cut till July 15, 2021, industries in Punjab which are already facing huge financial losses, demanded action against Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials.  

Reacting on the same. the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) that it was shocking news for the industry that the Power cut has been extended till 15.07.2021. Never in the history of Punjab, there was such a prolonged power cut.

''It is astonishing to note that suddenly, three major power plants of the state — Talwani Sabo, Ropar and Lehra Mohabbbat – have developed snag, rendering them either partially or fully non-operational,'' the industry body added.

It further said that there is a set schedule for maintenance of Power plants. It seems the Power Department and concerned officers are not performing their duties well.

In this regard, the association urged the government to sack the senior officers responsible for the crisis.

S Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU & Pankaj Sharma, general Secretary, CICU jointly mentioned that industry is unable to operate under such circumstances. There are huge losses both tangible and intangible. Production is on standstill and industries like Engineering, Steel, Forgings, Casting, and Reclamations are losing orders.

J S Bhogal, Publicity Secretary, CICU said that Export orders suffer a lot and penalties will be imposed by the buyers.

Honey Sethi, Organizing Secretary and Rajat Gupta, Press Secretary mentioned that the Electricity Board must be panelized and should not raise the bill for the month of July and August to compensate industry.
