Punjab MSMEs demand increase in limit of electricity bill deposit in cash

New Delhi, Aug 24 (KNN) In a meeting of All Punjab Industries and Trade Forum, state industrialists demanded increase in the limit of electricity bill deposit in cash to at least Rs 20,000.

The meeting was organized at the office of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) where prominent businessmen discussed various issues and concerns being faced by MSMEs.

Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA), President Badish Jindal told KNN, industrial units in Punjab demanding this because for certain categories government has stopped accepting cheques even and ordered them to deposit online.

Supporting this demand Rajindera Engineers (India) SEBCO Industries R & R Bikes owner, Rajeev Jain told KNN India that making payments digitally will be a challenge for Micro and Small units as they are not techno savy much.

He said, digital transaction makes MSMEs helpless and dependent at the mercy of other people.

Government and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited should take this matter seriously and raise the limit for cash deposit for electricity bill from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, he added.

Besides, members also discussed about the peak load charges of Rs 2 per unit which are being levied on MS connections.

During the meeting they also discussed about the high rate of per unit of electricity being charged for medium supply category of industrial power meters.

They said that government had promised in the manifesto to supply electricity at Rs 5 per unit to all industries. But PSPCL was charging Rs 8 to Rs 12 on MS category, which was uncalled for.
