Hyderabad, Jul 22 (KNN) A new law will be enacted in Telangana to simplify the process for setting up new industrial units in the state, the state’s Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said adding that the new state will have a better single window policy than Singapore.

For starters, a `chasing cell’ will be opened in the chief minister’s office to clear investment proposals in two to three weeks. The `chasing cell’ will give 25 to 35 approvals presently given by different departments, a move which is expected to ease doing business.

Rao said this while interacting with the industrialists here today.  He assured that a single window system would be put in place to grant all requisite approvals for setting up industries and also ensure zero corruption in the process.

"The 'license raj' is not yet gone. You still require 25-36 clearances for setting up industries, which is very cumbersome. Securing environmental clearance is really painful," the Chief Minister told industrialists.

"Singapore has the best single window clearance system in the world. I promise and assure you that Telangana will have a better single window policy. I will myself invite investors in batches and receive their proposals,” he said.

"At the end of a specific period, they will be called for a second meeting and I will personally handover an envelope containing all clearances. The investors need not visit any other office," Rao said.

The Chief Minister mentioned his government was drafting a "realistic" new industrial policy that would encompass some of the best international practices.  "There will not be any hype or cosmetic window-dressing,” he said.

Rao said that stabilising and expanding the existing industries in Hyderabad is the top priority of the Telangana government while setting up of new ones would rank next.

He also made a specific mention of developing cotton-rich Warangal on the lines of Tirupur in Tamil Nadu; and also a pharma city that would be located far from the urban areas.

The government, he said, would identify industries as a core sector to improve the state's economy and create jobs.

Rao also promised to look into the matter of BHEL Medak not receiving orders to generate power.  He said he would discuss it with the Centre and may even give orders directly from the state government.

Also present at the meeting were Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Special Chief Secretary (Industries) K Pradeep Chandra, TSIIC VC and MD Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, and other industrial association Heads from CII AP Ch Ravindra, Ficci AP Chairman Sangeeta Reddy, Credai Chairman Sekhar Reddy AlEAP President K. Ramadevi, Cowe President Soudhamini, TIF President Sudheer Reddy, NASCOM AP Head BVR Mohan Reddy, Pharmexil President Nityananda Reddy, FSME AP President APK Reddy and other Districts Industrial Associations Office Bearers from all over Telangana and other officials.   (KNN/SD/ES)
