Guwahati, Jan 13 (KNN) In a CSR initiative, Oil India Limited (OIL) trained 30 unemployed youth of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts in jewellery making, according to a report by Sentinel Assam.

The youths were given training on making copper, bead, terracotta, macramé and paper jewellery, it said.

Held from October 13, 2014 to January 12, 2015, the three month long skill development training programme on jewellery making and designing (SDTPJMD) was a part of the project ‘Swabalamban.’

To this effect, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on December 2, 2013 between OIL, Duliajan and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), an organization under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

This was the third batch of students that underwent training on jewellery designing and as an outcome of the initiative; a jewellery brand named Rasmi came into existence and was formally launched earlier this month.

So far, 60 students have been trained in jewellery making and design.

Apart from SDTPJMD, under its project ‘Swabalamban’, OIL is also extending focused training on 15 other need–based programmes that cover a wide range of sectors. (KNN Bureau)
