Under UP Govt’s amnesty drive, MSMEs to get 30 days to repay principal amount of power dues

Lucknow, Apr 18 (KNN) In order to deal with the whopping Rs 15000 crore worth power dues from customers in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has come out with an amnesty drive under which the MSMEs can repay their principal amount within 30 days.

The UP government recently launched a two-month ‘amnesty drive’ for customers with pending power dues.

The state government estimates that there is about Rs 15,000 crore worth of dues from customers which include surcharge over delayed payments.

The amnesty drive not only waives surcharges but also offers customers sufficient time –– two months for rural customers, 45 days for urban customers and 30 days for small scale industries –– to repay their principal amount.

On April 14, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Union power minister Piyush Goyal signed the ambitious 24×7 ‘Power for All’ agreement in Lucknow on Friday. With this, Uttar Pradesh which was the only state in the country which had not signed the agreement has also come on board the central government scheme.

24×7 Power for All scheme is a joint initiative of the central and state governments, with the objective of providing round-the-clock electricity to all households, industry, commercial businesses and any other electricity consuming entities within four years.
