Unscheduled Power Cuts Inflict Industrial Losses To Jammu Industries

Jammu, May 20 (KNN) The Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has expressed serious concerns over prolonged and frequent unscheduled power cuts affecting industrial units in the Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex over the past few days.

Despite the Jammu Power Development Corporation Ltd (JPDCL) collecting an annual revenue of approximately Rs 175 crore from Bari Brahmana, the power supply issues have resulted in huge financial losses for member units operating in the industrial hub.

According to BBIA officials, the power supply from the BBI Grid Station frequently gets switched off without prior notice.

JPDCL officials have attributed the outages to faults in the 220KV/132KV Hira Nagar-Bishnah-Miransahib-Bari Brahmana transmission line over the past few days, although they have the provision to shift the power supply from the Gladni Grid Station in case of prolonged delays.

Moreover, JPDCL officials have reported that the distribution transformers at the BBI Grid Station have also been heating up, leading to frequent tripping and disruptions in power supply to industrial units. BBIA has expressed concerns that the situation may worsen in the coming days due to rising temperatures, which are expected to reach 46°C next week.

Despite JPDCL's commitment to providing uninterrupted power supply to industrial units in Jammu and Kashmir, BBIA claims a lack of coordination between departments handling power supply, resulting in industrial units suffering and their production being entirely dependent on the grid and system operation wing of the power development department.

BBIA has requested the intervention of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary for Power Development H. Rajesh Prasad (IAS), and Managing Director of JPDCL Vikas Kundal (IAS) to ensure 24-hour power supply to industrial units in Bari Brahmana without any unscheduled power cuts.
