Agra, Jun 14 (KNN) The UP Jal Nigam (UPJN) will be setting up a packaged drinking water bottling plant under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) assisted project. The bottling plant will come up at Palra in Bulandshahar district of the state.

The unique selling proposition of the project will be that the raw water in the bottled water will be sourced from Ganga River through the upper Ganga canal.

UPJN wants to sell bulk Ganga water to commercial bottling companies for the purpose of treatment, bottling and subsequent re-sale. The volume of raw water that could be considered for bulk sale would be a minimum of 100,000 litres per day and up to a maximum of 5,000,000 litres per day.

In this regard, the corporation is inviting bids from experienced drinking water bottling firms in owning, operating and maintaining packaged drinking water facilities utilising advanced water treatment processes such as reverse osmosis or ultra-filtration or any other more advanced technologies.

The selected firm will be responsible for setting up of a bottling plant facility at the location of UPJN’s 370MLD sedimentation tank at Palra.

JICA signed Japanese ODA loan agreements with Indian government for a total of up to 183.079 billion yen for three projects and Agra water supply project is one of the projects. (KNN/ST)
