UP to draft its first services export policy
Lucknow, Aug 26 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh will soon have its first services export policy and the state government plans to prioritise medical value travel, tourism, IT/ITeS, logistics and education sector.
The policy would focus on attracting private investors and earn foreign exchange, reported Business Standard.
Explaining the importance of services export in the state, Industrial Development and Export Promotion Minister Nand Gopal Gupta said we have set a goal to become a leading services exporter to realise our grand vision of becoming a trillion dollar economy in the coming years.
He highlighted UP’s progress in promoting exports over the last five years and stressed on how significant the sector is for a modern economy.
The minister said the state was targeting to increase merchandise exports to almost Rs 3 trillion in the next three years.
For targeted growth we are now focusing big time on catalysing the service sector exports by identifying 12 “champion sectors”, he said.
These 12 sectors comprise IT/ITeS, tourism and hospitality, medical value travel, transport and logistics, accounting and finance, audio visual, legal, communication, construction, engineering, environmental, financial and education.
Before finalising details of the state services export policy the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government is in the process of holding consultation with stakeholders of respective sectors. (KNN Bureau)
