Apple suppliers propose Rs 2,800 cr investment in UP, apply for land to YEIDA
Lucknow, Dec 26 (KNN) A group of suppliers to Apple have moved to invest Rs 2,800 crore in Uttar Pradesh and applied for land to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
The YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh told IANS that as the parent company Apple was considering to accelerate its manufacturing in India, the supplier companies had chosen industrial land near the upcoming Jewar airport in Greater Noida.
Covid-related supply chain issues in China has forced Apple to boost its production in India and Vietnam.
Sharing the details, Singh informed, “Seiko Advance Limited, an ink manufacturing company, expressed its desire to make its product on 5 acres of land in Sector 29 of YEIDA.”
Providing employment to thousands of people, Seiko Advance Limited alone will invest Rs 850 crore in Sector 29 which is well-developed with several available facilities for companies.
The Apple suppliers, along with a known camera parts maker, proposed to set up a unit on about 23 acres of land with a proposed investment of Rs 2,800 crore. (KNN Bureau)
