Flight Operations At Noida International Airport To Start By July-August 2025 As Completion Nears
Noida, May 26 (KNN) Noida International Airport is approaching operational readiness with completion scheduled for June and flight operations expected to commence by July-August, according to development officials.
The project, which began construction in August 2021 under a 1,095-day concession agreement, has overcome initial delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and specialised material sourcing requirements.
The airport's core infrastructure components have been completed, including the runway, air traffic control tower, cargo terminal, and domestic flight terminal.
The facility is designed to become India's largest airport upon full development.
Unlike Delhi's four cross-runway configuration, Noida International Airport will feature six parallel runways, enabling simultaneous aircraft landing and takeoff operations.
The initial phase will serve five million passengers annually with one operational runway, while construction of the second runway is planned to commence within two years.
At full capacity, the airport will accommodate parking for 800 aircraft, with IndiGo having already signed a base agreement for operations.
The airport serves as a catalyst for broader regional economic development across the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority region, which spans six districts.
Transportation connectivity includes completed linkages to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and planned connections to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway within one year.
A 71-kilometer link expressway to the Ganga Expressway is scheduled for completion in 12 to 14 months.
Additional connectivity projects include integration with the proposed Bullet Train system, Personal Rapid Transit, pod taxis, and existing Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah rail routes.
The airport's impact assessment identifies coverage across 28 districts spanning Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi.
A Ground Transportation Center will be developed to facilitate multimodal connectivity and position the facility as a pan-India aviation hub.
The airport has accelerated industrial development in the surrounding region, with the recently approved HCL-Foxconn semiconductor manufacturing joint venture representing a significant investment milestone.
