Kyowa Leather & Meira Corp Seek 20 Acres For Manufacturing Units Near Noida Airport

Lucknow, Oct 29 (KNN) Two Japanese companies — Kyowa Leather Cloth Company of the Toyota Group and Meira Corporation — have applied for 10 acres each from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to establish manufacturing facilities near the upcoming Noida International Airport.

Together, the proposals represent an estimated investment of around Rs 900 crore, further strengthening the region’s position as a preferred destination for Japanese industry.

“Both companies are leaders in their sectors, and their entry into the YEIDA region will not only boost employment but also strengthen our industrial ecosystem,” YEIDA CEO R.K. Singh said, according to TOI.

Kyowa Leather Cloth, founded in 1935 and part of the Toyota Group, is a global producer of synthetic leather used in automotive interiors, fashion and lifestyle products.

The company has partnered with India's Krishna Group to set up a Rs 400-crore joint venture unit on 10 acres near the airport, which will manufacture synthetic leather for automotive seat covers and interiors for clients including Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.

Officials said the project marks a key step toward localisation of advanced automotive materials and reducing import dependence.

A delegation from Meira Corporation has also proposed an investment of around Rs 400–450 crore to set up a high-precision bolt manufacturing facility in Sector 8.

The plant will house a complete production line — including cold heading, rolling, heat treatment and inspection — to supply industrial fasteners for Escorts Kubota’s upcoming tractor manufacturing facility.

Escorts Kubota has received in-principle approval for 190 acres in Sector 10 for a Rs 4,500-crore plant expected to generate about 4,000 jobs. The Meira unit is expected to further strengthen the component ecosystem around the project.

YEIDA is concurrently developing dedicated industrial clusters to attract global investment, including a proposed 395-hectare ‘Japanese City’ in Sector 5A and a 365-hectare ‘Korean City’ in Sector 4A. Both are planned as integrated industrial townships.

The authority is also finalising an MoU with Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ) to bring Japanese investment and technology to the upcoming Medical Devices Park in Sector 28.
