UP Board to strengthen efforts to promote vocational courses

Prayagraj, May 3 (KNN) Currently only 1 per cent students registered for class 10 and 12 are have taken up vocational courses in Uttar Pradesh. 

To improve this, the UP Secondary Education Board officials have issued orders to step up efforts to encourage more students to take vocational subjects in both class 10 and 12, reported TOI.

The State Board spends lakhs of rupees in getting the question papers of these subjects made annually. 

The situation needs to be redressed as the entire focus of the central and state governments is on skill development and providing employment-oriented education to students, the Board officials said.

Director of Secondary Education, Mahendra Dev has sent a letter to all district inspectors of schools (DIOSs) instructing them to register the maximum number of students possible for these vocational courses. 

Vocational education scheme is operational in 892 government and government-aided secondary schools of the state, the official added.  (KNN Bureau)
