UP Governor exhorts Rajarshi Tandon Open University to start skill development programmes for locals

Kanpur, June 9 (KNN) Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel on Thursday asked the Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) to start public welfare programmes along with innovative changes in their educational courses.

Inaugurating UPRTOU’s regional centre in Juhi area of Kanpur, she said, “There are many industrial areas and industrial houses here and the university should cooperate with them and provide training to the youth, so that they can get skilled employment.”

“As per the need of the hour, there is a need for training the youth in the field of skill development, incubation centres and startups,” said the Governor.

The Governor said the new generation should be proficient in technical knowledge.

“The Open University should tell farmers about advanced farming techniques so that the soil is empowered with fertility,” she said.

On the occasion, Minister of Higher Education, Yogendra Upadhyay, said present positive changes are taking place in the field of education in the state. He also said the utility of distance education is increasing and the anomalies in the education world are being removed.

Mayor Pramila Pandey, MLAs Mahesh Trivedi and Neelima Katiyar, University Director, officers and distinguished people were present in the programme.  (KNN Bureau)
