UP Govt Links 83,277 Youth To Industries & MSMEs Via Apprenticeship Schemes
Lucknow, Jan 9 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh government has announced significant progress in linking youth with industries and MSME units through apprenticeship schemes, providing practical work experience alongside employment opportunities.
According to a press release from the state’s Public Information Department, 83,277 young people were placed as apprentices across industrial and MSME units in 2025–26 alone, reported ET.
UP Minister of State for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, highlighted that the apprenticeship programmes extend beyond certification, equipping youth with hands-on experience in manufacturing, services, and small and medium enterprises.
The government is emphasising not only training but also meaningful industry linkages and self-employment opportunities tailored to individual capabilities.
Apprentices and participating establishments benefit from reimbursement facilities under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (CMAPS).
This support provides financial assistance to trainees during their training period and incentivises industries and MSMEs to engage apprentices, creating a mutually beneficial model that strengthens workforce readiness and industrial growth.
Over the past four years, 795 new establishments have registered on the state apprenticeship portal, broadening training opportunities across districts.
Under the CMAPS scheme, 6,164 new candidates have gained apprenticeship benefits, further enhancing employability by combining skill development with practical industrial exposure.
