W Bengal CM calls for Rs 2,200 cr investment for northern districts

Kolkata, Jan 20 (KNN) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told investors that there are investment proposals to the tune of Rs 2,200 crore in sectors such as eco-tourism, plastic industry, tea and tourism in North Bengal, according to a report by The Echo of India.

The minister was addressing investors representing north Bengal, Sikkim, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, pointing out that the area was strategically located as a gateway to the north east on January-19.

During the event Banerjee inaugurated a single window system for Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) and a revision office of Sales Tax for North Bengal in Siliguri.

Banerjee also said that she will visit Uttarkanya every six months to monitor the work and the projects while the state finance minister Amit Mitra will visit every three months.

Further, North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb has been quoted as saying that the state government will provide Rs 1 lakh each to 100 clubs of north Bengal during the opening ceremony of Uttar Banga Utsav. (KNN Bureau)
