Defer e-Way Bill under GST in Uttar Pradesh till Oct else it will add to the problems of MSMEs: IIA to GST Council, CM Yogi

New Delhi, July 27 (KNN) Demanding postponement of e-Way Bill under GST, Indian Industries Association (IIA) termed the Uttar Pradesh Government’s decision as a “decision taken in haste”.

IIA also opposed the decision of applicability of e-Way Bill system on the goods valuing less than Rs 50,000 as provided in the GST Rules and guidelines of the CBEC.

“Government of UP has ordered implementation of e-Way Bill for movement of Goods valuing Rs 5000 and more which is ten times less than provided in the rules,” IIA said.

Sunil Vaish, President IIA, submitted the representations to the GST Council, Government of India, Finance Minister, Government of UP, Additional Chief Secretary and other concerned officials.

In the letter, President IIA, has urged the Government not to implement the e-Way Bill system before October 2017 as was the assurance given by Government of India before implementation of GST.

Vaish said most of the MSMEs at present are grappling with the complexities and procedures to implement the GST as well as to understand it.

“As a result their business is already hampered as on date. Under this situation putting another burden of e-way bill on them that too when the Government itself is not prepared for it will push their business further down,” he added.

In the letter, Vaish further said that reducing the value of goods applicable for movement of goods under e-Way Bill from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5,000 is also against the spirit of GST and violation of the Rules itself.

In the recent past, Government of UP assured that S.I.B surveys and seizers will be stopped for three months after implementation of GST to give space to the businessmen to migrate smoothly to the new Taxation System.

“IIA had welcomed this decision. But with the implementation of e-Way bill, these seizers will start automatically. Hence the businessmen of the state will lose their faith on the Government decisions with the implementation of e-Way bill,” IIA mentioned.

Though the e-Way bill system under GST has been implemented from Wednesday yet the software and the associated systems for it are not in place either at Government of India or at State levels, IIA said.

President IIA in his letter written to Chairman, GST Council has also urged to advise the State Government to postpone the implementation of E-Way Bill till October 2017 and not to reduce the value of goods for e-way bill from Rs 50000 to Rs 5000.

IIA has also urged the State Government to consider the concerns raised by them. (KNN Bureau)
