BJP promises free-hold industrial plots in Delhi; power to cost 30% less

New Delhi, Nov 26 (KNN) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is trying hard to wrest power in the national capital from the Congress Party, today said, if voted to power,  it will cut electricity tariff by 30 per cent, make Delhi a power-surplus state and make small industrial plots free-hold.

In its election manifesto, the party which has named Harsh Vardhan, as its Chief Ministerial candidate, said it will provide free-hold industrial plots in the DSIDC area, set up a single window clearance for establishing new businesses and make the VAT process simplified and rationalised.

“Delhi being a big trade centre, a trade board will be setup to resolve all trade related complicated issues, “the BJP manifesto said. The party claimed that it would be able to cut power tariff by 30 per cent by promoting competition among Discoms and bringing them under CAG audit and the Right to Information Act.

If voted to power, its government will provide liberal assistance to make Delhi as the solar energy capital of the country by generation of solar power on the roof-tops of the government and other buildings.  “The government shall provide liberal assistance for this purpose.”  The tax holiday for manufacturing of solar energy equipment would be given for 10 years.

The public transporter, DTC would be restructured, expanded and strengthened and special services shall be provided for the factory workers in the industrial areas.

The party also promised a number of initiatives to develop skill for the youth to promote employment.  They include expansion of the school curriculum to include employment.
Besides, free training and tools to those learning hand crafts with special emphasis on Vishwakarma and Weavers would be provided. Those wanting to start self-employment would be provided easy loans.

Plus, it said information technology zones would be set up in Nazafgarh, Narela and Bijwasan areas. Language centres to generate employment as tour guides in large numbers would also be set up.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the new kid on the political block, has also promised several sops to the traders in Delhi while assuring small industrialists better infrastructure in the industrial estates.   (KNN/PC)
