Indian residents travelling abroad are allowed to carry Rs 10,000

Mumbai, Sept 7 (KNN)  To allow more flexible to resident Indians travelling abroad, the Reserve Bank of India has permitted them to carry currency notes of up to Rs 10,000 with them.

The limit has been increased from the existing Rs 7,500 per person.

“As part of providing greater flexibility to the resident individuals travelling abroad, the existing limit...has been enhanced to Rs.10,000 per person, RBI said in a notification.

“...any person resident in India, may take outside India (other than to Nepal and Bhutan) currency notes of Government of India and Reserve Bank of India notes up to an amount not exceeding Rs 10,000 per person,” the notification added.

Further, the RBI has allowed any person, who is on a temporary visit outside India, to bring into India at the time of his return from any place (other than Nepal and Bhutan) currency notes up to an amount not exceeding Rs 10,000 per person. (KNN/SD)
