Visiting Chinese delegation urge Indian businesses to explore opportunities in e-commerce in Hangzhou

New Delhi, Oct 25 (KNN) India and China are determined to improve bilateral trade between the two countries, said Li Baijun, Counsellor, Embassy of China in India adding that if the two countries become one voice, the entire world would listen to them.

A delegation from Hangzhou, China, has come to India to promote China Cross-Border E-commerce comprehensive Pilot Area.  India China Economic and Cultural Council  (ICECE) had organized a conference on ‘Business Promotion for China(Hangzhou) Cross-Border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area’ here today.

Addressing the conference, Baijun said China has enormous investors from across the globe. China’s investment into India has also remarkably improved in last 1-2 years.

“China Embassy is ready to provide help to investors from both the countries to boost trade relationship,” he said.

Tong Guili, Counsellor, Consultant , Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government cum Deputy Leader, Commanding Administration for China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area said Indian investors have huge opportunities across many sectors in Hangzhou.

 She said being near to Shanghai, Hangzhou has good connectivity to the ports which makes easier for e-commerce companies to do trade from the city.

Guili also said that there is a growing demand of high quality handicraft products from India in China and the e-commerce companies can explore these opportunities.

In his special address, Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, FISME, stressed that Indian businesses should explore the Chinese market as China is not only the world’s second largest economy but is also the second largest market in the world.

“In the last decade or so China has become the factory of the world and India one of the biggest service providers. Now, China is focussing on Services and India on manufacturing,” he said adding that is poses a great opportunity to both countries to improve bilateral trade.

He suggested that Indian MSMEs should visit China, explore opportunities, open small offices in the country and do business which ultimately can bring revenue to India as well.

Shi Huangkai, Vice Director, Cross Border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area spoke about the Comprehensive Pilot Area serving as a reform pilot area to realize the liberal, facilitated and standardized development of cross border e-commerce through institutional innovation, administrative innovation and service innovation.

Earlier this year the Chinese State Counsil has approved establishment of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot areas in 12 cities including Tianjin Municipality. The 12 cities include Tianjin, Shanghai, Chingqing and more.

The pilot cities are tasked with building on experience from China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area to lead and experiment in technical standards, B2B model for cross-border-e-commerce. (KNN Bureau)
