Western freight corridor to be developed with Japanese support

New Delhi, Nov 26 (KNN)  Japan International Cooperation Agency has offered support to the Indian government through an economic partnership agreement to develop the Western freight corridor project, covering the places Rewari, Dadri, JNPT - Vadodara.

The Dedicated Freight Corridors Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) is undertaking the project “Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) Phase II” under Japanese Official Development Assistant (ODA) loan. It will be constructing Dedicated Freight Corridors from Jawaharlal Nehru Port at Nhava Sheva (JNPT) in Mumbai to Dadri near Delhi.

The project would involve the construction of double Line electrified railway track with signalling and telecommunication system and related infrastructure for Rewari - Dadri and JNPT - Vadodara section (approx 555 Route Kms) of Phase-2 of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, said a DFCCIL notice.

In this context, the DFCCIL is keen to appoint a consultancy firm to manage the project.   

The firm would be involved in design, procurement construction, testing and commissioning of electrification, including task state segment, switching stations and supervisory control, etc.   (KNN/ST)
