India, Estonia To Explore Deeper Cooperation In Digital Tech And Manufacturing: Piyush Goyal
New Delhi, Jul 18 (KNN) India and Estonia are set to strengthen bilateral ties, with a focus on combining technological expertise and industrial capabilities to build globally competitive solutions, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said.
Addressing the India-Estonia Business Forum, Goyal highlighted the potential to combine Estonia’s digital capabilities with India’s scale, talent, and manufacturing strength.
Goyal said, “I think together, we can combine Estonia's agility and technical depth with India's scale and talent and possibly also our design capabilities, which will help make your technologies scalable, more affordable, more cost competitive, and help you take your trusted digital solutions to Africa, to other parts of Asia,” ANI reported.
Boost from India-EU Trade Framework
He noted that the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement would create new opportunities for trade, investment, and technology partnerships, further strengthening ties between India and Europe. Estonia, he added, could act as a gateway for Indian companies seeking access to the Nordic-Baltic region and wider European markets.
Expanding Areas of Collaboration
The minister outlined several sectors where cooperation could grow, including digital public infrastructure, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, manufacturing, and defence technologies. He also pointed to opportunities in smart ports, digital logistics, precision agriculture, and advanced manufacturing.
India’s manufacturing ecosystem, he said, could offer Estonian firms competitive advantages in sectors such as electronics, machinery, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and processed food.
Long-Term Growth Outlook
Emphasising India’s economic trajectory, Goyal said the country’s economy, currently valued at about USD 4 trillion, is projected to exceed USD 30 trillion over the next two decades. He invited Estonian businesses to participate in this growth and build long-term partnerships.
Building Scalable Global Solutions
Goyal suggested that technologies developed in Estonia—particularly in areas like digital identity, secure data exchange, and payment systems—could be scaled in India and deployed globally.
He added that deeper cooperation between the two countries could contribute to a stronger and more integrated India-Europe partnership.
