Trade deal with Australia will give duty free access to Indian exporters from 6000 sectors

New Delhi, April 2 (KNN) The signing of interim trade deal with Australia will give duty free access to Indian exporters from 6,000 broad sectors such as textiles, leather, furniture, jewellery etc. 

The pact was signed on Saturday with an aim to enhance the economic ties between the two countries. 

The signing ceremony took place virtually wherein Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and his Australian counterpart Dan Tehan were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a water moment with regards to bilateral relations between India and Australia.

He emphasised on jointly increasing supply chains resilience and stability of Indo-Pacific region.

PM Modi’s Australian counterpart PM Scott Morrison said that the strategic partnership between the two countries has been remarkable.

He said the Australian will take new initiatives with a budget of USD 282 million which will be include holding of a summit to expand cooperation.

According to media reports over 6,000 tariff lines would be available for Indian exporters at zero duty immediately after the implementation of the interim pact. (KNN Bureau)
