Bengaluru Gets Rs 156-Crore MSME Technology Centre For Advanced Skills, ESDM

Bengaluru, Sep 11 (KNN) A new Technology Centre (TC) of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) was inaugurated at Devanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district on Thursday, with capacity to train around 10,000 people annually in advanced technical skills.

Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated the centre, which has been developed at an investment of Rs 156 crore on 10 acres provided by the Karnataka government. 

The facility will specialise in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and provide training, technology development, design, prototyping, testing and production support to MSMEs.

Karandlaje also announced that Karnataka’s next Technology Centre will be established in Belagavi at a cost of Rs 178 crore, reported Economic Times.

Advanced Technology Support For MSMEs

The Bengaluru centre is equipped with advanced machinery and laboratories, including a Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) line, additive manufacturing facilities, CNC 5-axis and 3-axis machines and Electric Discharge Machines (EDM).

The centre will provide design, prototyping, production, training and consultancy services, particularly to MSMEs operating in electronics and aerospace, with the aim of accelerating technology adoption and improving their competitiveness.

Karandlaje said the centre would serve as a hub for training, manufacturing and nurturing young talent, while encouraging students and young innovators to pursue entrepreneurship and startups.

Technology Centres To Strengthen MSME Ecosystem

MSME Secretary Bharat Khera highlighted recent amendments to the MSMED Act, 2026, and said the Bengaluru centre would contribute to developing industry-ready skills.

Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME, said more than 9.4 crore MSMEs are registered across the country, contributing 31 per cent to the Indian economy and generating employment for more than 41.6 crore people.

He also highlighted initiatives including the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) and Credit Guarantee Scheme to improve MSMEs’ access to finance and technology.

The Bengaluru facility is the latest addition to the ministry’s nationwide network of Technology Centres, which provide industry-grade training to youth along with technological, production and advisory support to MSMEs.
