CTIL, IIFT and CII Launch 'Going Global' Guidebook to Help MSMEs Expand Exports
New Delhi, Jul 17 (KNN) The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), on Thursday launched "Going Global: A Practical Guide for Indian MSMEs", a guidebook designed to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) expand their presence in international markets.
The guidebook provides practical guidance on identifying export opportunities, understanding market access requirements, using trade intelligence tools, complying with international standards and sustainability norms, and improving export readiness.
It also addresses key challenges faced by MSMEs, including limited access to market information, identifying overseas buyers, meeting certification requirements and maintaining competitiveness.
The launch was followed by a panel discussion on strategies to help MSMEs leverage opportunities under India's Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
The discussion covered the use of preferential Rules of Origin, identification of export markets, compliance with international standards, and improving competitiveness through diversification and value addition.
The event also featured a presentation on the Trade Remedies Advisory Cell (TRAC), which highlighted its role in creating awareness about trade remedy laws and providing guidance to domestic industries on issues related to unfair trade practices and import surges.
The programme brought together policymakers, industry representatives, trade experts and MSME stakeholders.
It also featured remarks by Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), during the inaugural session.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants engaged with policymakers and industry experts on export preparedness, standards compliance and market access.
The concluding remarks highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships among MSMEs, encouraging participation in trade exhibitions, enhancing institutional support and effectively utilising the guidebook to facilitate integration into global value chains.
