Changing paradigms of cluster development: learning from global experiences

New Delhi, Jan 20 (KNN) The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) has organised a conference here next month to highlight learning from global experiences with regard to cluster development programmes (CDPs).
Organised in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and The Competitiveness Institute (TCI) Network, the conference titled – ‘Changing paradigms of cluster development: learning from global experiences’ will be held from February-20 to 22nd.
Promoting competitiveness of MSMEs through Cluster Development Programmes (CDPs) has been adopted as an important tool for MSME development by policy makers and industry around the globe. The process is now active for a decade and a half and has witnessed a wide spectrum of experiences and learning.
In India too, a number of Ministries have adopted CDP to promote a variety of industrial and artisanal clusters.
It is to learn from global experiences and identify insights for designing effective national and regional cluster development policies and implementation frameworks that the conference has been organised.
“In particular, the Conference will discuss issues related to role of CDP to enhance industrial productivity, promote inclusive growth through micro enterprise development, promote innovation, address energy efficiency, build common infrastructure and ensure sustainable production across diverse sectors namely, industry, agriculture and services,” said an official release.
The conference is expected to bring together more than 150 representatives from various national and international organizations, policy makers, knowledge institutions, researchers, financial institutions and implementing agencies, covering developed and developing countries, emerging markets and transition economies.
Participants can also participate in networking meetings and cluster visits that have been organised during the conference. (KNN/ES)
