Haryana Court's stay on 75% job quota brings respite to MSMEs

New Delhi, Feb 3 (KNN) The order to give 75 per cent job reservation in private for domiciles of Haryana has been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday, a move which has been highly anticipated by the MSME sector.

A number of petitions were filed against the law which included petitioners from three industry associations from Gurugram, Faridabad and Rewari, the bench heard by Justice Ajay Tewari who also acknowledged the matter.

Speaking exclusively with KNN India, Animesh Saxena, MD of Neetee Clothings Pvt Ltd based in Gurugram cum President said of industry body Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) said, “This judgment comes as a big relief to the industry and we welcome it. Now the Haryana government should focus on creating skill pool and the industry will assure to provide jobs to locals without reservations.”

Unavailability of skilled workers in the state has been raised as one of the major concerns by industries.

Calling out the now revoked reservation law as a unconstitutional, Manmohan Gaind, General Secretary of Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA) told KNN that we really appreciate the decision of the court as the big federations did not support us and it was only due to the collective efforts of small scale industries associations that we reached here today.

Politics must be kept away from the industry, rather the government should concentrate on facilitating infrastructure for skill development which is currently not aligned with industrial requirement, added Gaind.

Government should curate courses which are in sync with industrial needs, he suggested. (KNN/KT)
