Jammu Kashmir MSMEs meet Tax officials to raise concerns under GST

New Delhi, Dec 27 (KNN) In an attempt to have an industry-tax department dialogue, and putting forth the concerns of the industrial sector including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Bari Brahmana Industries Association delegation met the tax commissioner recently.

The delegation led by Lalit Mahajan, President of BBIA along with other representatives from the MSME body met Gyan Sarvar Commissioner, C.L Dogra Additional Commissioner (P&V) and  Iftikhar Ahmed Chowdhary Assistant Commissioner of Custom & Central Excise of Jammu.

BBIA in a press statement informed of the meeting.

During the meeting, the MSMEs raised concerns related to non-release of crore of rupees lying in the credit of PLA account of the unit holders.

The delegation also raised the issue of  show cause notices issued by the Department in respect of denial of CENVET Credit availed by the unit for the period 06-02-2010 to 19-01-2014 and rejection of refund claims due to delay in return filling prior to 30-06-2017

The delegation informed the tax officials that with such situation prevailing, the MSMEs are suffering badly.

Listing the problems, BBIA informed that there is shortage of funds among the units, leading to stress on the sector.

The delegation appealed the tax office to release the pending refund as per the notification of Government of India.

Responding to the representation, Sarvar assured that the refund of credit amount lying in PLA shall be released within fortnight. With regard to the show cause notices and rejection of refund claims, the tax official said that it is already being forwarded on priority basis to higher authorities for necessary. (KNN/MG)
