Around 1.9 lakh MSMEs are non- traceable: MSME Ministry

New Delhi, Aug 2 (KNN) The MSME Ministry has said that as per the 4th All India Census conducted in 2006-07, out of total 22,48,011 MSMEs in the country, 1,87,682 MSMEs are non-traceable. Out of the total, 15,63,974 are working and 4,96,355 are closed, Lok Sabha was informed.
It said that Uttar Pradesh had most non-traceable MSMEs with 35,231 out of total 3,03,589 MSMEs in the state, followed by Maharashtra with 34,383 non-traceable MSMEs out of total 1,62,825. Gujarat has the third highest non-traceable MSMEs with 22,745 out of total 2,87,520.
While answering a question in the Lok Sabha, Haribhai Partibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State in the Ministry of MSME, said that no survey was conducted by the government in regard of employment generated for rural and tribal people including women during the said period.
Further, replying to other questions, Chaudhary said that as per the 4th All India Census of MSME, the number of functional and non-functional registered MSMEs in the country are 15,63,974 and 4,96,355 respectively.
Moreover, the share of MSMEs products in the exports in 2015-16 was highest at 49.86% as compared to 44.76% in 2014-2015. In 2013-14, the share of MSMEs products were 42.42%, Chaudhary said.
