MSME associations have mixed reaction on Congress Manifesto

New Delhi, Apr 3 (KNN) As the political parties are all set to woo the voters through promises in their Manifestos, KNN India speaks to MSME associations from across the country to know how much the manifesto released by Congress has impressed them.

Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA), President, Manmohan Giand
If Congress government is bent upon rolling out the scheme of guaranteed income support-NYAY, it will involve additional collection of Rs 3.5 lakh crore and that money can only come through taxes that would be borne by the industry at large as industry is only the producer in this country.

It will affect total growth prospective in short term and in long term we will be out of business if that happens.
If you are giving some large amount of money from certain things then you have to side by side tell us from where you are going to arrange this money because we don’t want money to come out of additional taxes borne by industries as we are major tax generators.

Giving 3 year blanket pass to MSMEs or Startups is again not a good solution because most of the MSMEs in last 5 years have become absolutely compliant and Modi government has been quite receptive to our demands and don’t put us under harsh management.

Whole hard work that has been gone into making things so systematic and compliant will go down in drain if this thing happens.

They have got us rid-off of all inspectors as of now and only place we have issues right now is pollution. Because pollution is something which in our country is controlled more by courts than government.

I think the manifesto is more of trying to win election rather than well thought of.

Indian Industries Association (IIA), President, Sunil Vaish
About five to six suggestions that were given by IIA have been incorporated in the Congress manifesto.
Suggestions related to de-regulation of SMEs have been especially taken care off.  Every time there is a discussion related to de-regulation but always some new regulations are formed.

We also suggested that there should be separate banks to provide financial support to SMEs, and even this has also been mentioned by the Congress Party in their manifesto.

Speaking about the definition of MSMEs given in Congress manifesto he said that I totally agree with the employment based definition rather than turnover based.

We will have to wait for other political parties to release their manifesto for us to come to a conclusion.

Confederation of All India Traders Association (CAIT)
Declaration made in the manifesto about no permission will be required for first three years of conducting any business is quite illogical and can’t be implemented as traders have to comply with various acts and rules passed by the Parliament under which different types of licenses, permissions are required to obtain.

It has not given any priority to traders and has sum up the issues related to abolition of E-way Bill and one single rate of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in just two lines.

Traders have been grossly neglected so far in political spectrum of the Country and therefore the trade leaders has decided to play a crucial role in forthcoming elections and will vote collectively as a vote bank to the party or parties who will commit to bring the business community on its priority.

Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association, President, Badish Jindal
The burden of promises that has been mentioned in manifesto will be borne by industries at the end of the day. We don’t want money to be spent on various social schemes, it should be rather spent on development of the industries.
