MSME Ministry calls for suggestions from industry, academia over various schemes of the Ministry to boost innovation

Pune, Dec 7 (KNN) As the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) is in the process of modifying various schemes in order to make them more effective, feedbacks from associations, academia, incubators and SMEs will be welcomed. This was mentioned by PM Parlewar Director, Office of DC MSME, Ministry of MSME.

Parlewar was speaking at ‘Collaborate to Innovate’ conclave supported by Ministry of MSME and organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Mahratta Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCIA) in the city on Thursday.

Parlewar is a M tech serving in organisation for 30 years and has worked on various projects across India. He served as Joint DC in SEZ, Ministry of Commerce.

The MoMSME has been re-orienting its various schemes to support small businesses and is planning to roll them out very soon.

Addressing the event, Parlewar said, “Innovation and innovative ideas are already taken care of by the Ministry of MSME but the only thing required in particular is strengthening of industry-institution interaction on large scale.”

Elaborating about various schemes to support innovation, Parlewar said, “Most of the students do lot of research work and prepare thesis but their ideas end up in showcases as they have no support system to commercialize their research works. Our intellect is being utilized by some other countries. This type of support system is provided by way of incubation in which we grant amount of RS 60 lakh to engineering students.”

Across India around Rs 29.29 lakh crores have been spent on these incubation projects by DC MSME till date, he noted.

The Director, DC MSME said the Ministry is also strengthening mechanism to upscale skill development scheme with some ideas. We have various schemes, cluster development scheme, NMCP, Manufacturing skill development and now we are up scaling them with level 2 ideas and we are involving academic institutions in our various schemes to take them on our platform so that the benefits of researchers and academicians will be given to the MSMEs.”

He said the MoMSME and GIZ is jointly organizing MSME INNO programme to foster cooperation between research institutions and MSMEs. The MSMEs and Institutions should come together, discuss and give a proposal to MoMSME so that their suggestions/ advice can be incorporated while revising the schemes.

Parlewar called for some feedback from stakeholders in order to improve the existing schemes.

Prashant Girbane, Director Genereal, MCCIA suggested that the technology transfer cells in academic institutions and universities must be strengthened with more degree of freedom.

“Success stories of implementation of innovation of products/ processes amongst MSMEs must be widely shared. This will definitely help improve the innovation ecosystem,” Girbane said.
