NIMSME wants share of women-led MSMEs to rise

New Delhi, Mar 8 (KNN) The National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME) is keen on increasing the share of women-owned micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from 12% to 25% in the next three years and has submitted a report to the Center for consideration, S Glory Swarupa, director general, NIMSME, said while addressing participants on the eve of International Women’s Day at T-Hub.

Out of 67 million MSMEs in India, women run only around 8 million enterprises, Swarupa said, adding that a major challenge that women face is the availability of finance.

Swarupa said, “Their loan applications are more likely to be delayed or rejected,”.

Many women have set up tech startups in the last two years and they must be provided with incubation support on the lines of T-Hub and WE Hub, she added.

WE Hub (Women Entrepreneurs Hub) is India’s first and only State led incubator to promote and foster women entrepreneurship by way of incubation, access to government and create a global collaborative network for women led enterprises to thrive.

As a step towards advancing the economy through participation of women, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 hosted in Hyderabad was themed “Women First, Prosperity for all”. Identifying the need for a dedicated platform to support and guide Women Entrepreneurs during the Summit, the Government of Telangana conceptualized “WE Hub” and announced its inception.
