MSME Ministry Holds National Seminar on Digital Commerce & Export Readiness at IIT Madras
New Delhi, Aug 20 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, through the MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Chennai, organised a national seminar on “From Local to Global: Enabling Export-Ready MSMEs through Digital Commerce” at IIT Madras on August 18.
Organised in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Madras, the seminar brought together MSMEs, entrepreneurs, students, policymakers, financial institutions and experts to discuss ways of improving market access through digital commerce and exports.
Praveen Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary, MSME Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, highlighted the role of digital commerce in helping MSMEs access global markets and called for stronger Centre-State coordination.
Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean, IC&SR, IIT Madras, emphasised innovation and academia-industry collaboration, while Hansraj Verma, Director General, Council of State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation of India, stressed the importance of quality and digitalisation for improving MSME competitiveness.
Technical sessions featuring experts and officials from DGFT, EXIM Bank, ECGC and IIT Madras covered export procedures, trade finance, export risk mitigation, international payments, compliance, digital onboarding and e-commerce opportunities.
The seminar was organised under the capacity-building component of the Ministry's Procurement & Marketing Support (PMS) Scheme, which supports awareness programmes on market access, packaging, import-export procedures and e-commerce platforms.
The initiative aimed to strengthen digital adoption, export preparedness and market access for MSMEs as part of the government's efforts to help Indian enterprises expand from domestic to international markets.
