New Delhi, Dec 1 (KNN) Personal computers and smartphones maker, Asus India will commence commercial business including those related to government projects and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), said a report from Business Line.

With 95 per cent of its sales coming from laptops, the company has now started looking at commercial projects and government deals, and have started another business unit for such projects this year, the report quoted Asus India Country Manager, Peter Chang as saying.

The move will help the company become a complete computing devices provider and improve its turnover, he added.

Asus recently started selling smartphones too, with its ZenFone series.

The company had a turnover of around Rs 600 crore last year and expects a better number this year. In India, around 60 per cent of the total PC sales came from individual consumers and the rest from commercial entities, said Chang.

It has already started evaluating three-four projects of the government. And, there are more talks happening for the SMEs, he said.

The main agenda of the company is set by market share and not turnover. They are aiming at 10 per cent market share each in notebooks and tablets next year, from 8 and 5 per cent respectively right now, he said.  (KNN Bureau)
