Children of single mothers can apply for PAN without disclosing father’s details: WCD Min

New Delhi, Dec 13 (KNN) A major amendment has been made in the Income Tax Rules (1962), according to which, a child of single mother can apply for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) without disclosing the details about his/her father.

The Finance Minister made the amendment on the request of Women and child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi who wrote to the ministry in July seeking changes in the application form of PAN to support single mothers.

In a recent tweet, Women and child Development Ministry tweeted “Now, a Child of a Single Mother need not disclose his/her father's name, but can apply for a PAN by only furnishing the Mother's name.”
