Govt mulls setting up Indian Innovation Centre

Ahmedabad, Jan 13 (KNN)    The government is thinking of establishing an Indian Innovation Centre of which all states in the country will be members, according Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Y S Chowdary.

While addressing a Seminar ‘Innovation:  the torchbearer of 21st Century; held under the aegis of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015 at Gandhinagar, the Minister also expressed the need to establish a science city in every state, according to an official release.

During the seminar, Gujarat Chief Minister, Anandiben Patel inaugurated Gujarat Innovation portal and Gujarat National Law University‘s centre for intellectual property rights. Some MoUs were also signed with leading biotech and IT companies.

Chowdary spoke about the challenges the science sector is facing, adding that many scientists published research papers but did not get proper connectivity and network; innovations have been done but did not get proper recognition.  
 
He stressed the significance of innovation by saying that through innovation we can help women to enhance their productivity, farmers to take insurance for their health and crop, development of medical instruments and applications.
 
With regard to youth, the Minister said that youth get certificates but not skills and that creates the problem of unemployment.  Every youth should be given a job, he said.  (KNN/ES)
