Noida district administration writes to Peso for a clinical composition review of green crackers

New Delhi, Dec 15 (KNN) The district administration of Noida has written to the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (Peso) for a clinical composition review of “green crackers” ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The administration has also written to the local police to ensure that the sale of “green crackers” is done only through licensed vendors.

However, no licenses have been issued to any vendor to sell fire crackers for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The district administration had earlier written to Peso over the issue during Diwali, said, Shailendra Mishra, Noida City Magistrate,  according to a media report.

He said, “The Supreme Court had asked Peso to conduct a clinical composition review of green crackers. This is important as during Diwali celebrations, we had faced issues to know what green crackers were.”

“We did not receive any information in this regard,” Mishra added.

“So, we have again written a letter seeking information about what constitutes green crackers, so that we can take necessary measures,” he added.

Mishra said, “due to crackdown for past violations, no vendor has approached us for licenses so far”.

The Supreme Court, on October 23, had permitted sale of green crackers which have low emissions.

For New Year and Christmas celebration, the Supreme Court had fixed the 11.45 pm to 12.30 am period for bursting crackers.

During Diwali, Noida police had booked around 60 people for bursting crackers beyond permissible hours.
