Petro products, Engg, Gems & Jewellery propel Indian exports to $ 9.39 bn in first week of June
New Delhi, June 9 (KNN) From June 1 to 7, India’s merchandise exports was up by 24.18 per cent to about USD 9.39 billion.
As per media reports, the growth is driven by sectors such petroleum products, engineering, gems and jewellery.
During the first week of the same month last year the exports stood at USD 7.56 billion.
In view of imports, it was recorded at USD 16 billion which marks a 77 per cent rise.
Gems and jewellery, engineering, petroleum products, and electronic goods' exports increased by 84.3%, 25.7%, 20.4% and 73.5%, respectively.
Goods such as petroleum, crude, coal, coke and briquettes, gold and chemicals are the major goods that recorded growth.
In May 2022, India recorded USD 37.29 billion merchandise export in marking an increase of 15.46 per cent as compared to USD 32.30 billion in May 2021. (KNN Bureau)
