Textile Minister Piyush Goyal confident about 15% growth in apparel market

Greater Noida, June 21 (KNN) Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal has said that 15 per cent growth in apparel segment is achievable as I have set a modest target for the sector which is to double the production and triple the exports.

He said this during the inauguration of the 67th India International Garment Fair (IIGF) at IEML, Greater Noida on Monday.

The Union Minister inaugurated the event in presence of Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament, Chairman AEPC Naren Goenka, Lalit Thukral, Chairman, IGFA, Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman, EPCH, exhibitors and international buyers across the world.

Delivering his inaugural address he said,” I am amazed to see the size and scale of apparel industry in Noida. I am told that 10 lakh people have engaged in this 35 crore industries.”

Complimenting them for their work, the minister said that together we have to take this industry from current to next level.

Apparel, Fashion Jewellery and MICE are three industries where India has to grow, he said.

The IIGF is a three day event from June 20 to 22.  (KNN Bureau)
