WBKVIB will take up a project for development of silk khadi in 14 districts

New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN) Bolstered by the success of the project on muslin khadi, the West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) is taking up a project for development of silk khadi in 14 of the state’s 23 districts.

Under this project, artisans will be trained to come out with the products to meet present market demand, said CEO of WBKVIB.

For this, WBKVIB will provide them with infrastructure and importantly, create a platform for marketing of their products, he added.

At present there are about 31 khadi institutions and societies working in the area of silk khadi in Bengal.

Among other issues that will be addressed under this project include storage facility, quality control and testing facility, and branding.

While in the ‘non-backward’ category are Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Hooghly, Howrah and Nadia.
